Through this space, we at Arenal Manoa want to share our journey towards sustainability with you. Here you will find information about our sustainable practices, our goals and achievements, as well as opportunities for you to join us on this important journey. We strongly believe in the power of working together and we know that together we can make a difference.
BE CAREFUL
Whether the Protected Wildlife Area is on the beach, in the forest or in the mountains, take the necessary precautions so that your visit is filled only with pleasant memories:
For your safety, stay within the marked trails for your use.
Although some areas offer drinking water, take some with you, as well as snacks that are easy to carry for the walks.
Not only on the beach should you protect yourself from the sun; also in the mountains. Don’t forget sunscreen and a hat.
Bring repellent with you, to avoid mosquito bites.
For the walks, prepare light clothing and comfortable shoes, preferably closed, to protect yourself from the rain.
In high and mountainous areas, bring an umbrella and wear warm, waterproof clothing.
If you are under medical prescription, don’t forget your medications.
In volcanic areas, for your own safety, respect the indications and established limits.
At all times and in the event of any eventuality, follow the instructions of the service personnel and park rangers.
BE A RESPONSIBLE TOURIST
Discover the wonders that the Protected Wilderness Areas offer without damaging their ecosystems and facilities.
Take with you the satisfaction of having lived all the experiences that the Protected Wilderness Areas offer you and, in return, contribute by being a responsible tourist.
By following these expert tips, you will enjoy your visit and help preserve the biological wealth of the country:
Before traveling to the Park, find out as much information as possible; for example, the regulations and activities that you can do within that protected area.
For the well-being of the forest, do not extract products such as rocks or plants.
Do not feed wild animals; they have their own nutrients in the forest. Providing them with food only encourages changes in their behavior.
Do not leave backpacks with food exposed, as it is common for raccoons and white-faced monkeys to go after it.
Smoking and drinking alcohol are prohibited in Protected Wilderness Areas.
Minimize waste generation and, when you have to dispose of it, deposit it in the appropriate place.
Use services managed by the local population, especially those that are committed to the environment, such as transportation, restaurants, lodging, among others. This way you will get to know the area better and will benefit the local economy.
Use water and electricity sparingly.
Try to visit the Parks accompanied by an expert guide. It is better if it is a local.
