Maintaining Green Spaces: Just as Important as Planting

Our work does not end when a reforestation day is over. Within the hotel we keep our own plant nurseries, where we grow and care for the plants that support the development and conservation of our green spaces, before and after every planting day.

This ongoing care lets the trees planted on each day take root and helps keep the gardens and trails at Arenal Manoa healthy throughout the year.

Organic Fertilizers and Zero Agrochemicals

This care also shows in how we work the soil. We make and use organic fertilizers and natural compost, and we do not use agrochemicals in maintaining our green spaces.

With this practice we aim to respect the natural processes of the environment and keep a more responsible relationship with the resources that sustain life in our gardens and natural areas, at the heart of the protected Arenal zone.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do guests and staff take part in reforestation?

Each year at least two planting days are organized, some with hotel staff and others open to outside individuals and organizations, combining tree planting with environmental education.

Does Arenal Manoa use agrochemicals in its gardens?

No. Green space maintenance is done with organic fertilizers and natural compost made by the hotel itself, with no agrochemicals, to respect the natural processes of the environment in Arenal and La Fortuna.

What are the hotel's plant nurseries for?

Arenal Manoa’s plant nurseries allow plants to be grown and cared for before and after each planting day, ensuring the ongoing maintenance of green spaces beyond reforestation days themselves.
